Biomechanical Appointments
During the consultation your podiatrist will assess the range of motion in all joints of the feet, and possibly the knees and hips, if clinically necessary. Muscle testing is also undertaken, looking at strength, symmetry and range of motion.
Postural assessment will also be carried out, to assess such anomalies in shoulder and hip obliquity and torsion, leg length difference and basic foot and ankle stance position, to name a few.
Gait assessment is an integral part of the assessment. Your podiatrist will study the way you walk to assess the efficiency of your gait pattern. Footwear history is also a consideration.
Orthotics
If your feet are out of alignment, the results can be felt throughout the entire body. Pain can be felt in the knees, legs, hips and back – triggering headaches and chronic pains. At times surgery is necessary, but most times the best and easiest solution to correct this problem is orthotic therapy.
Orthotic foot treatments are custom foot supports positioned in your shoes that either correct or modify the alignment of your foot. They are far more effective than over-the-counter products because they are specifically designed to fit your unique feet.

Sports Injury and Management
Our sports injury treatment and rehabilitation programs are dynamic and structured and aim to help reduce pain, restore function and performance level, and minimise the risk of re-injury so you can return to peak performance and doing what you love to do in a safe and timely manner.
Our qualified practitioners are strong believers in education so part of your treatment plan includes education on what to do or not do in future to prevent such injuries.
Ingrown Toenails
An ingrown toenail is a common and painful condition of the toe. It occurs when the sides or corner of the nail grow inwards and penetrates the skin of the toe. Pain is often accompanied by swelling and redness. The big toe is affected most often.
Ingrown toenails should be treated by your podiatrist, especially if you suffer from diabetes. Untreated ingrown nails can lead to infection or even an abscess that necessitates surgical treatment. Matricectomy is a technique of removal of all or part of the base nail portion (nail bed) using chemical, electrical or surgical methods.
Neurovascular Assessment
Having diabetes increases the risk of developing foot problems. Unfortunately, diabetes and foot problems can go hand in hand. This applies for those with Type 1 and 2 Diabetes Mellitus. People with diabetes need to be careful as they require ongoing assessments and monitoring. As blood glucose (sugar) levels can increase quickly, it is easier for foot infections to take hold and cause further complications.
Other factors such as less blood flow and loss of feeling in the lower limb can also occur and can lead to injuries without a person noticing them. A podiatrist will thoroughly investigate a clients risk assessment status with a classification of either low, moderate or high risk, and will provide full education on how to care for any foot problems in order to prevent injury. All diabetic patients are provided with a management plan and a letter sent to their treating doctor, filled with information about their assessment and treatment
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy is an effective non-surgical treatment for a range of musculoskeletal conditions relating to tendons, particularly calcific tendinopathy, where painful deposits of calcium occur in healing tendons.
The therapy involves the delivery of high-frequency shock waves (sound impulses) to the injured tendon to stimulate healing.
Shockwave Therapy has been used for many years as an alternative to invasive surgeries or traditional rehabilitation.
